This Halloween was my favorite yet- by far! First of all, it was on a Saturday, which was awesome. Every other Halloween, Ryan has had to work (and most I have had to, too). But this year Ryan was off Saturday- actually Thursday-Sunday!- and we got to spend the whole day as a family.
We were up going early because my parents had gotten tickets for all of us to go to the Richmond Symphony. They have a "LolliPops" concert series designed for kids. My parents and then later Ryan and I had each taken Anderson to one of these shows, but this time we all went. We loved it! It really was perfect. First, costumes were very encouraged. Second, it started with an instrument petting zoo. This means the Richmond Youth Symphony devotes their Saturday morning to let kids come and see, touch, and play their instruments. It is so cool, and the boys got to try out quite a few!

The symphony itself was great, and as the highlight, they played "In the Hall of the Mountain King" by Edvard Grieg, which Anderson loves and can hum by heart. We were all excited! Also, all three boys really enjoyed the performance. Colby was dancing (and singing until I could hush him some) along when he wasn't eating. Anderson and Brady were both really interested (it helped that many of the musicians were in costume, too). Rather than covering his ears during the clapping, Anderson joined in and clapped after most of the songs. This was a little victory but made me happy. :)
After the symphony and a quick Wendy's lunch at home, Ryan, my mom, and Anderson headed off to his soccer game. I stayed home with the little guys during nap time.
Then everyone, including Ryan's parents, Casey, and Charlotte and Xavier gathered at our house in time for our neighborhood Halloween parade, hot dogs, and trick-or-treating.

This Halloween was so great. I'm sure we have a lot of fun ones ahead of us, but this one will be hard to beat. Also, let me go on record saying I reallly don't look forward to yucky, scary boy costumes one day. Any chance all 3 boys will skip that phase?
